I would like to introduce myself, and my abilities in today’s NLE world. My name is Frederick Dooman. I was born in Iran, and raised around the film and television industry there.
At the age of 18, after graduating from high school, I completed two years of mandatory service in the military. At the age of 20, because of my interest and passion towards the film industry, I successfully gained employment at a film studio.
I started there as a projectionist, and within one year I moved up to the position of a dubbing sound-recording technician and editor. I then moved my way up to the highest position available there, which was operating a sound mixer for 70mm motion pictures film.
In 1979, after revolutions had begun in Iran, I migrated First to Vancouver, Canada to complete my two years colleges for the film and TV then to America. In order to be as close as possible to my profession, I found a full-time job as a theater projectionist. This was for a company called “Walnut Properties”. I worked there for almost six years.

During my fourth year with the theater, I also accepted a position with United Airlines as an customer service. Then, after continuing with both of these full-time jobs for almost two years, I left the theater and focused only on my job with United Airlines.
During my long employment with United, I stayed current and up-to-date with the ever-changing film industry, and took on occasional projects, as my time permitted.
I remained with United for almost 27 years. I held various positions: Ramp service, flight auditor, IT work, including maintaining the computer system within the ramp and customer service operations. In October of 2007, I was also able to produce a highly successful, short corporate video for one of United’s interim events. United’s management team was extremely satisfied with the results.
Finally, On January 01, 2011, I decided to retire from United. Since then, I have continued on with my real passion as a freelance editor.
